Travel time and the Coentunnel
Outside rush hour it's twenty to thirty minutes. Late afternoon, the Coentunnel is the problem: the same run can take three quarters of an hour. If you're booking before six in the evening, factor that in. We'd rather tell you upfront that it'll take longer than leave you waiting.
Two-hour minimum, no surcharge
Outside Amsterdam we normally ask for a two-hour minimum. That isn't a sales tactic: for a single hour the round trip is longer than the booking itself, which makes for a poor evening all round. We don't add a travel charge, so it's €360 for two hours, cash on arrival.
Hotel or private address
In Zaandam it's usually a private address or a hotel near the station. Give the full address when you book, including house number and any suffix. In residential areas, a hundred metres and the wrong entrance easily cost ten minutes.
If you're in a hotel, name it. Some ask visitors to check in at the desk; that's no obstacle, but it's better known before someone is standing at the door.
