Leiden is forty-five minutes from Amsterdam on the A4. All twenty-four escorts on our books list it as a work area, so the choice is as wide as in the city itself. What differs is the logistics.
The centre wasn't built for cars
Leiden has a compact, low-traffic centre full of canals, one-way streets and bridges. For getting someone to a door that's harder than the map suggests: the nearest place to stop can be a street away, and on the wrong side of the water you're ten minutes going round.
So give the full address, including house number and any suffix, and say whether it's possible to stop outside or whether meeting a corner away is easier. That usually solves it.
Hotels and the Bio Science Park
The hotels are mostly around the station and on the edge of the centre. On the north-west side lies the Bio Science Park, where a lot of business visitors stay. Both are straightforward for us and considerably easier than the old centre.
Name the hotel when you book. Some want visitors at the desk; no obstacle, but we'd rather arrange it in advance.
Duration and rate
As everywhere beyond the city, we ask for two hours here: €360, cash on arrival. The journey itself isn't billed. For three hours or more we agree a rate beforehand.
If you're travelling on, The Hague and Schiphol are both within half an hour of Leiden.
